MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Sortation Manager for one of our clients based in Runcorn on a full-time permanent basis.

Our client, a leading parcel logistics and distribution business, is seeking an experienced and driven Sortation Manager to join their fast-paced operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven logistics professional to take ownership of a high-volume sortation facility, ensuring operational efficiency, service excellence, and strong team performance.

The Role

As Sortation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the sortation operation, ensuring parcels are processed accurately, safely, and within agreed service levels. You will lead and develop operational teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and work closely with key stakeholders to maximise productivity and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end sortation process within a busy parcel distribution environment.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop shift managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
  • Ensure all parcels are processed accurately and dispatched within service level agreements.
  • Monitor and improve key operational KPIs including productivity, throughput, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Analyse operational data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage resource planning, labour allocation, and workforce performance.
  • Work collaboratively with transport, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support employee development.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions to maintain service excellence.

About You

  • Proven management experience within parcel logistics, distribution, warehousing, or a high-volume sortation environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large operational teams.
  • Excellent understanding of warehouse and logistics processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive performance, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with operational KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours in line with operational requirements.
