MRD Recruitment is actively looking for a Purchasing Manager to work on a permanent basis for our fast-paced manufacturing client, based in Carluke. This Purchasing Manager will be based in Carluke, however some flexibility will be provided for home-working and the successful incumbent will report into the Head of Supply Chain.
The Purchasing Manager, working in a manufacturing environment will ensure maximum value for money and manage supplier performance within all commodities to reduce business spend, utilising a strategic framework and approach. The Purchasing Manager will lead and develop procurement strategy within the wider business.
Job requirements for Purchasing Manager:
- The Purchasing Manager will engage with internal customers to understand changing needs and demands of each commodity. Review and amend the status of all commodity contracts to ensure fit for purpose
- Negotiate across a range of goods and services
- Analysing the market for the commodity to understand raw material availability and supply chains, technology advances and market trends and advise management on how these can be utilised to best effect in the strategy
- Drive the performance of a small team in ensuring customer satisfaction and savings performance
- Investigating fully alternative options/ sources of supply considering logistical complexities of alternative supplies to ensure continuity of supply
- Running tenders to ensure we achieve the most competitive contract available
- Accurately analysing and presenting tender responses, ensuring all responses are measured in full against contract life-cycle. Make recommendations to Senior Management ensuring that subsequent risks are identified
- The Purchasing Manager will prepare contracts drafts with legal, negotiate contract terms with preferred vendors ensuring resulting agreements are the best value for the business and stakeholder’s risks are minimised
- Develop a suite of Key Performance Indicators and Management Information to maintain supplier performance
