MRD Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our Engineering client in recruiting a Planning Manager. My client is a global leader in their respective field. The Planning Manager will be based in Grangemouth, and reports into the site Operations Director

The successful Planning Manager, based in Grangemouth will play an important role in contributing to the S&OP process and the business strategic decisions. The Planning Manager will manage the long and short term production scheduling for the manufacturing sites, optimising inventory, meeting customer delivery service and providing scenarios to facilitate executive decisions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities For Planning Manager Based in Grangemouth:

  • Responsible for converting the Demand Plan into a Supply Plan
  • Long term horizon capacity planning role-based on S&OP, which feeds into Manufacturing footprint decisions
  • Optimise inventory levels and service delivery to the end customer
  • Manage short term production scheduling across the manufacturing locations and develop production schedules in accordance with sales forecast, plant, equipment, and employee capacity ensuring it is correctly reflected in the ERP systems.
  • Interface between commercial and manufacturing to ensure alignment, plan execution and customer satisfaction
  • Key role in minimising the costs from our factory floor to the customer’s door – Inventory, Logistics and Warehousing
  • Monitor production process, workflow, and schedules to ensure on-time delivery
  • Efficiently assign production to minimize company costs and meet delivery deadlines
  • Review production specifications, identify, and report plant capacity constraints
  • Resolve production, manpower and material shortage problems quickly in an order of priority
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are pre-arranged for production
  • Work with managers to develop potential solutions to improve production performance
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, and finance teams to develop and maintain scheduling parameters
  • Propose to the materials to Order and stock adequate materials to avoid future shortages to meet production deadlines
  • Generate daily or weekly production reports to managers for critical decision-making purposes
  • Key participant and stakeholder in the S&OP process

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a senior master production scheduling role.
  • Experience in short and long term master scheduling and capacity planning and analysis
  • Subject matter expert in S&OP and Production Planning tools.
  • Ideally educated to degree or master’s level in an appropriate discipline
  • Desirable Project management qualification
