MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Merchandiser for one of our clients based in Glasgow City Centre for a 12 Month FTC.
Our client is a well-established specialist retailer operating across the UK, serving both trade and retail customers through an extensive store network and online channels. They are seeking an experienced Merchandise to play a pivotal role in driving stock performance, sales growth, and profitability across a diverse product portfolio.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Head of Merchandising, you will be responsible for developing and managing merchandise plans that optimise inventory investment, maximise availability, and support commercial objectives. Working closely with Buying, Supply Chain, Finance, and Store Operations teams, you will use data-driven insights to influence key trading decisions and deliver strong commercial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain category-level merchandise plans aligned with business objectives.
- Forecast sales, stock, intake, and margin performance across multiple product categories.
- Analyse trading performance and identify opportunities to maximise sales and profitability.
- Manage stock levels to ensure optimum availability while minimising excess inventory.
- Lead weekly and monthly trading reviews, providing actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Buying teams to support range planning, seasonal launches, and promotional activity.
- Monitor key performance indicators including stock turn, sell-through, availability, and markdown performance.
- Produce accurate demand forecasts and reforecast plans based on market trends and trading performance.
- Support budgeting and strategic planning processes.
- Drive continuous improvement within merchandising processes, reporting, and systems.
About You
- Previous experience in a Merchandise Planner, Senior Assistant Merchandiser, or similar retail planning role.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Experience managing sales, stock, and intake planning within a retail environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with merchandising and planning systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
