Design Engineer

MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Design Engineer on behalf of our manufacturing client. My client is a global leader in their respective field. The Design Engineer is based in Greenock and reports into the Head of Design.

My client is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality electrical applications to several different markets such as computers, automotive, electronics and more.

The successful Design Engineer, based in Greenock, will be designing new Discrete Analog products and processes to increase our capability to serve our chosen markets; Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• The specification, design, and development of new Discrete products and technologies: product definition, application, circuit, device and process simulation, layout, design of experiments, measurements, and analysis of trial results
• The development of Discrete process platforms, establishment and re-use of design rules and functional blocks
• Providing technical support for improving the performance, manufacturability, yield, and reliability of products as part of the company’s continuous improvement activity
• Developing the value of the Intellectual Property portfolio by documentation, re-use and protection, as appropriate
• Assisting in the solution of customer problems associated with the use of our products

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences

• Degree or equivalent in Physics, Electronics or related discipline, a higher degree in semiconductor-related Physics is desirable
• Knowledge of power semiconductor structures, simulation and test
• PC Literate (Word, Excel, Access)
• System literate
• Able to analyse data and write concise accurate technical reports
• Worked in a team environment
• Safety conscious in a wafer fab or laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivation with a positive attitude to work
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High levels of self-motivation and flexibility
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to develop strong relationships
• Highly organized approach, accurate with a high level of attention to detail

• Understanding and experience of semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes

• User of one of the commercial simulation software suites
• User of commercial layout packages
• User of circuit simulation software
• Wafer fabrication process experience
• Analogue / Power Management market and applications aware
• Able and prepared to travel abroad to support the design, development, or transfer, of products
