MRD Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturing business known for its commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The company supplies high-quality products to a range of industries and is seeking a proactive Buyer to support its growing procurement function.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services required for production. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services in line with production requirements
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms to achieve cost savings
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve any supply issues
• Work closely with production, engineering, and planning teams to forecast requirements
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and update ERP/MRP systems
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards

About You

• Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Good understanding of MRP/ERP systems
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Commercially aware with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• CIPS qualification (or working towards) desirable but not essential
