Buyer

MRD are currently recruiting a Buyer for one of our manufacturing clients on a 12-month FTC.

The Opportunity
As the Buyer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the business maintains a reliable, cost-effective supply of materials, components, and services. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you’ll manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, improve procurement processes, and contribute directly to operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end purchasing of materials, components, and services for production
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers
• Place purchase orders and expedite materials to meet production schedules
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement
• Work closely with production, planning, quality, and engineering teams
• Maintain accurate procurement records and support cost-saving initiatives
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and quality standards

About You
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

• Proven experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Ability to read technical drawings (advantageous but not essential)
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
