Warehouse Operations Manager

MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Warehouse Operations Manager for one of heavy engineering clients based in East Lothian.

The Role

As Warehouse Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of warehouse operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable movement of materials across a high-volume engineering environment. You’ll lead a skilled team, develop robust processes, and collaborate closely with production, procurement, and logistics to ensure the warehouse supports the wider manufacturing workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop warehouse teams including supervisors, stores operatives, and logistics staff
• Oversee goods-in, storage, inventory accuracy, and dispatch for heavy/large-scale engineered components
• Drive continuous improvements in safety, workflow, stock control, and warehouse layout
• Implement and enhance warehouse management systems (WMS) and material handling processes
• Manage transport, logistics coordination, and third-party relationships
• Ensure full compliance with H&S regulations, lifting/handling standards, and quality processes
• Collaborate with production planners to meet operational targets and support production schedules
• Develop KPIs, monitor performance, and report on operational efficiency

About You

• Proven experience as a Warehouse or Operations Manager within heavy engineering, industrial, or manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of complex supply chains, large/awkward component handling, and engineered product flow
• Excellent leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing teams
• Knowledge of WMS/ERP systems and modern warehousing best practices
• Strong safety mindset and experience managing compliance in a high-risk environment
• Effective communicator able to work cross-functionally with production, procurement, and senior management
