MRD Recruitment is actively looking for a Trade Compliance Officer to work on a permanent basis for our well renowned Engineering client. You will be based in Skelmersdale. The successful Trade Compliance Officer will directly report into the Logistics Manager
The successful Trade Compliance Officer will have a key role in ensuring that goods flow as smoothly as possible across borders, from suppliers to production sites and international customers.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities for the Trade Compliance Officer:
- Support ADL customs brokers & cross functional teams to resolve challenges related to valuation, classification, origin, anti-dumping duties and other relevant customs inquiries, investigations, and audits.
- Maintain (Syspro MRP) system with Tariff classification for all new parts
- Validate origin status on finished goods vehicles for export markets and inbound material
- Maintain all transactions, data and reporting of Inward Processing (IP) shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
- Develop and maintain trade compliance procedures, SOPs, best practice, audit programs within the (QMS)
- Create training material for the Group
- Work to automate manual processes & procedures
- Support new process/project requirements across the business
- Support trade compliance team on internal audits and external audits with HMRC
- Manage ADL Customs DDA account
- Maintain robust KPI to analyze, monitor trade compliance spend & tariff classifications
- MSS data validation
- Ensure all key trade compliance procedures are up to date and relevant
Performance Measures:
- Freight is smoothly and effectively customs cleared
- On time reporting to HMRC (quarterly aggregated reporting)
- Positive feedback on audits and maintain low risk status
- Tariff classification of all new parts
- All key Trade Compliance procedures are relevant and live in the ADL quality management system (QMS)
Key Requirements for the Trade Compliance Officer:
- Inhouse customs and international trade, in UK & Europe ideally within automotive sector or similar sector
- Managing transactions across multiple (UK) & (International) sites, including:
- Inbound raw material, Finished Goods & Aftermarket
- Incoterms
- Maximising duty suspension & exemptions including but not limited to:
- Inward Processing, Origin determination, Special Customs Regimes
- Liaising with Custom authorities on any queries, authorisations, or applications
- Managing relationships with UK & International Customs Brokers & Logistic Providers
- Internal/External audits with (HMRC & ISO)
- You have advanced Microsoft skills, experience of (BI) tools and ability to analyse large data sets
- Implementing solutions for complex scenarios (ideally) within a Mfg environment with cross functional teams
- Driven, curious, and analytical, with some prior experience in a fast-paced trade compliance role.
- Alongside your core technical abilities, you’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to influence and negotiate at all levels.
