MRD Recruitment are currently recruiting a Buyer for one of our manufacturing clients in Lanarkshire.
The Role
As Buyer, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, placing purchase orders, and supporting continuous improvement across the supply chain. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders including production, planning, and engineering to ensure purchasing activity aligns with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day purchasing of materials, components, and services
- Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiating pricing, lead times, and terms
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues
- Maintain accurate purchasing data within the MRP/ERP system
- Support cost-reduction and value-improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and procurement best practice
About You
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- Good understanding of manufacturing supply chains and lead-time management
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
