MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting an Electrical Engineer on behalf of our manufacturing client. My client is a global leader in their respective field. The Electrical Engineer is based in Greenock and reports into the Facilities Engineering Manager.
My client is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality applications to several different markets such as computers, automotive, electronics and more.
The successful Electrical Engineer, based in Greenock will be expected to deal with problem situations as they occur in addition to carrying out pro-active maintenance and ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and updated.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Sound understanding of electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure compliance to site specific, national and international standards and local legislation, IET wiring Regulations, HSE Guidance, ATEX, COMPEX etc.
- Knowledge of electrical plant & equipment typical of a building services / facilities department e.g., UPS, lighting systems, fire detection systems, back-up power generation systems, HVAC plant & controls.
- Sound understanding of electrical distribution systems.
- Experience of Permit to Work systems.
- Experience of maintenance / repair activities on electrical plant and equipment.
- Possess a good understanding of relevant legislation and be aware of statutory requirements in connection with electrical installation / maintenance activities.
- Ability to understand electrical drawings and fault find on electrical plant and equipment.
- Experience of liaising with and organising maintenance / installation contractors.
- Experience of working as a High Voltage Authorised Person (if not experienced in this aspect, the candidate must be willing to undertake training to become an HV Authorised Person for the site).
- Supporting and maintaining reliability, accuracy and availability of automation equipment and systems. This includes contributing to keep automation programmes backup updated, identifying redundant and obsolete systems, record modifications, maintaining an up-to-date library of all software and hardware within the Facilities Group.
- Project management experience (desirable but not essential)
Qualifications:
- Degree / HND / HNC or an equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline combined with experience in electrical engineering / maintenance.
- IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671
- Inspection and Testing C&G 2391 or C&G 2395-0
- C&G 6037 HV Systems Operations
