MRD Recruitment is pleased to be working with a Heavy Engineering client in the search for a Procurement Manager. This global leader in its sector is looking to appoint a Procurement Manager to be based in Musselburgh, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join a dynamic and forward-thinking business. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering strategic procurement solutions focused on quality sourcing and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with overall business goals, focusing on cost savings, quality improvements, and risk reduction.
- Oversee supplier evaluation, selection, negotiations, and performance management to ensure the best value in terms of cost, quality, and service.
- Lead contract negotiations and draft supplier agreements, ensuring terms and conditions safeguard the company’s interests.
- Ensure all procurement contracts are aligned with project, legal, commercial, financial, and operational requirements to mitigate compliance risks.
- Collaborate with legal, project management, finance, and commercial teams to ensure contractual agreements are consistent with company policies, project requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle, from supplier identification and selection through to contract finalisation and ongoing vendor management.
- Work closely with production, planning, and subcontracting departments to align material procurement with production timelines.
- Oversee procurement budgets, forecasting, and cost analysis to ensure effective financial planning.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive procurement tracker to monitor long-lead items and ensure alignment with company and project deadlines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including Operations, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Contracts, and Compliance to support wider business objectives.
- Ensure all procurement processes adhere to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards and policies.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours:
- Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management, ideally within a similar engineering or industrial environment.
- Strong capabilities in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship development.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to manage a small team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day procurement activities.
- Commercially astute with experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
