Senior Finance Assistant (FTC)

£32000.00 - £35000.00 per annum + plus excellent benefits

MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Senior Finance Assistant (Part qualified ACCA/CIMA/AAT) on 1 Year Fixed Term Contract, for our Retail client. My client is a global leader in their respective field.

The Senior Finance Assistant (FTC) is a full-time maternity cover, based in Livingston. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager in managing daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform weekly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Data Entry: Maintain accurate financial records and update internal spreadsheets.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and manage company expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies. (Personal Expenses and Company Credit Cards)
  • Vat Return: Processing of Monthly / quarterly VAT returns (UK, Belgium and Netherlands)
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Ensure that all Balance Sheet G/L’s are reconciled and post any month end journals
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain Fixed Assets register including calculation of monthly depreciation charges
  • Budget Assistance: Support the Finance Manager in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Audit Support: Assist in external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • General Administrative Support: Perform other administrative tasks as required by the finance department.

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences

Essential:

  • Part qualified ACCA/CIMA/AAT
  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Knowledge of using an ERP system (Preferably Navision but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Competent in the use of relevant Microsoft Office packages especially Excel
  • Good communication skills and excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy

Desirable:

  • Experience of accounting practices in EU countries in particular Belgium and Netherlands
  • Experience of producing Management Accounts
  • Experience in dealing with multi currencies
