MRD Recruitment is currently seeking a Packaging Buyer for one of our clients in the agriculture sector.

About the Role
Our client is a leading player in the agriculture industry, providing high-quality produce and innovative solutions to their customers. They are looking to add a Packaging Buyer to their procurement team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in packaging, ideally within agriculture or food production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure packaging materials, including trays, films, boxes, crates, labels, and protective packaging.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and supplier reliability.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and sustainability teams to ensure packaging meets operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Support new product development by sourcing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Monitor market trends and supply chain risks to guide procurement strategy.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, forecasts, and reports within ERP systems.

About You

  • Proven experience in procurement or buying, ideally in packaging, agriculture, or food production.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Solid understanding of packaging materials, suppliers, and industry trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using procurement or ERP systems.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions oriented.
